Quinn, A Year Later

It is past his 1st birthday, but I am catching up on my blogging.

At 1am on September 9th, 2010, my wife woke me up to tell me her water broke. Quinn was expected 2 weeks later near the end of September, but apparently he wanted to come now. Unfortunately, I had just finished a gaming session with my friends at 12:30am and had just gone to bed. So instead of being the most caring I could concerning my pregnant wife, all I could consider was how much more tired I was going to be with this child than the last. Skyler was nice and simple. We left for the hospital with her at 10am the day before she was born, and life was grand.

Anyways, back to Quinn. We rushed to my parents to drop off Skyler at 1:30am, and got to the hospital in the medical center a short time later. Then we waited. And we waited some more. Finally, they admitted Stephanie, and it was off to the races. Except that I had to transfer Skyler from my parent’s house to our friend’s the Richardson’s out in Katy. So 9am, Skyler is dropped off, Stephanie is in the hospital being taken care of, and I want a nap. Instead, my wife told me to get to the hospital immediately.

Luckily I made it in time to see my son, Quinn, be born shortly before noon on September 9th, 2010. At that point I was a father to two, a wonderful preschool aged girl, and a newborn infant Quinn.

A year later, I reflect, and all I can feel is a great love in my heart for the both of them. They are my reason for being, and I would do anything to make and keep them happy.

Happy Birthday, little buddy.
